Yokohama, Japan, 16 of December 2011 - Delphi Genetics announced today during a presentation at the 34th Annual Meeting of the Molecular Biology Society of Japan that it has established the complete chromosome sequence of all the strains sold in the research kits of the company. The complete genome sequencing of the strains of Escherichia coli (E. coli) sold for use in research is a world first and will ensure researchers of working on a routine basis with material that is completely genetically defined. Strains of E. coli are used on a daily basis in laboratories to create genes assembling and produce recombinant proteins. Over the past 20 years, these strains have been integrated into molecular biology products in the form of kits sold to academic and private researchers. These strains can mutate and therefore derive ; several of them have the same name even if they are different on a genetic level. Therefore, with complete sequencing it is possible to perfectly characterise the material used in the experiments. To create complete genome sequences, Delphi Genetics has invested in the latest generation sequencing platform.
